Another day of pounding, disruption and fretting dogs here. It seems that this time of year signals the home maintenance streak in us. Of course, there are the little projects that Husband and I tackle on our own, but replacing a roof is way beyond our skill set! Living in a wooded forest area has its great benefits but one of the downsides is that shaded areas are prone to moss and mold issues. Therefore, one side of our house has had some deterioration of the roof. The entire roof needs to be replaced, again. After this we have another big project in the wings.
Speaking of projects, Kathy Southern, of Studiokat Designs, shared her construction project when she expanded her studio and her business. Her business sense is a tutorial in and of itself for anyone considering turning their craft/passion
into a home based business. In a re-use and re-purpose direction, click here to see what she has done with a T shirt! Not construction but an inventive use of fabric and a little paint.
On a fashion sort of trend today, I was thrilled to see a post from Kay Whitt of Serendipity Studio. A pattern designer with a fabulous sense of fabric play, Kay has released a new pattern, Marilyn. It reminds me of the iconic dresses worn by the women of my family in the 1950's. It also illustrates how fashion impacts culture. Currently, on NBC, a second season series called Smash chronicles the making of a Broadway Play titled "Bombshell." The story-line is the life and times of Marylin Monroe. Dresses like this are the costumes that help recall the fashions of that time. Kay has used many beautiful quilting cottons in the fabrications. This one is a Moda example. Inliterested?
