There is change in the Quilt World. Slowly catching on in my area, the bright and geometric designs that I saw in the quilt show vendors booth's were refreshing. Some featured traditional patterns in the new colors, but most showed abstract and geometric patterns and frequently with white or bright backgrounds. I was intrigued, traditionalist that I am. I bought a book and some fabric, a Modern Quilt is now in the queue! I have followed some blogs in the last two years with modern leanings. At first I must say I didn't care for the designs. There are still some reservations, of course, and I am notoriously slow to the trend. But I think I prefer more than one or two colors. Those seem stark to me with the severe lines and lots of negative spaces. The multi-colored quilts seem happier. How is that for a lame commentary? I don't understand the movement I suppose. Using solid colors is also a diversion for me. I am still working on my class samples, mmm, well, I will let you decide next week. After taking a class, I have a new perspective and appreciation for the movement. All photo's Google Images. Have a wonderful week end, I hope Spring is bursting forth and inspiring your work.
