Modern Style-The Sew and Sews Quilts, part 3

paper foundation piecing
Here it is, the "Flimsy" in a Modern esthetic. Susan can take something as simple as strips of fabric and come out with this. It takes an eye and she has it. Please note the 'star' in the upper right hand corner and how all the other strips radiate from it. This quilt was foundation pieced using paper as the foundation.  I am anxious to see how she quilts it. With all the angles we discussed a simple line stitch to emphasize the design without competing with it. Each of the blocks has at least 3 blues in it and Susan was able to use up lots of scraps in the process. Wow!
quilt, modern, hexi
Long time quilt in progress, this little wall hanging is the finale of all those little hexagons Susan stitched here and there. A traveling project, it has a very Asian flair to me. The hexi's are solid and printed and rather reminds me of a DNA strain.

Quilted on her Bernina Domestic machine, using a walking foot, each segment is quilted differently. This is the bottom edge.

the top of the quilt is channel quilted with a wave stitch and a straight stitch, the hanging sleeve in incorporated into the top seam.

And of course, the back! Here you can see the outline of the hexi quilting.
hosta, wild violets
Because this a Woodland garden, these charming little wild violets have taken up residence under an unfolding Hosta.
That's all of the Sew and Sew Quilts for this week. Next week, who knows!
