My Giant Granny Square Afghan

I started this project in February, I had 6 skeins of yarn and a general idea.
Another crochet post but do not dismay, quilting has not disappeared from my project list. After the show I will get back to it. Right now I just need something to keep my restless hands busy and crochet work fills the
time nicely. I can work a bit, set it down and come back to it with ease. Quilting is a process for me. Not portable or transportable, my current projects are waiting for the calm after the  (quilt show) storm.
So this is the "Granny Square" that became a Giant single square. It was one of those mindless projects that takes on a life of its own, well until I ran out of this yarn!

the close-up of the basic Granny  shell stitch, 3 DC in one chain space, chain 2, on and on until you reach a corner then three DC x3 in one space, ch 1, then DC x 3 in the next chain space, chain 1 and continue in pattern.

against a white background you can see the pattern emerge.

turning the corner and a little ruffle added all around

If anyone wants the pattern I can be more specific but I just sort of made it up as I went and kept it square. One little addendum, however, before blocking there was sort of a bump in the middle. As a result of a slight tension change on my part, it rather resembled a 'uni-boob' so typical of the aging breast in a poorly supported bra! We had quite the chuckle about this at my Tuesday sewing group....I'll let you imagine the conversations that erupted.

Well, another long day, the show has been hung and it looks great. See you there!

That's a big granny! That is similar to what I tried to do once, but it got so lopsided it became a parallelogram! I love crochet, and I think some of us need some type of handwork to do.
