| Boxing Day. Defined by Wikipedia, is not practiced in the US in the same context. At my house it has a totally different meaning since I have no servants! At my house it refers to the folding and storing of some gift boxes that will be re-purposed and reused. Others will be diminished in size so that they can be sent to the great landfill somewhere. Up early as usual, Husband and I survey the detritus of our little Christmas Celebration and are smiling because the dogs are still carrying their respective Teddy Bears that Santa left for them. But I just had to send on what I feel has been the Best ever employee excuse to not go to work on the day after Christmas. A text message on Husband's Blackberry: "I am so sorry but I cannot come to work today. I have food poisoning. I think my Mother-in-law tried to kill me. Really, I am sick " On that note, I am off to fold up my boxes. *Photo courtesy Sigismund von Dobschutz, 12/24/07 via Wikipedia. |
