It is unbelievably hot outside. I had great plans to work in one of the perennial gardens, but I would likely collapse. So, I decided to scan some of the quilt blogs and share them with you. There are so many and it is hard to narrow focus so I have added a little of this and that.
Do you remember Sew and Sew member Jenny's hand dyed fabrics from last week? from this post? Well, Linda Sue, always a busy bee took her piece of fabric, used a Dresden Plate template and came up with this. She alternated the front and the back of the fabric to achieve the shaded effects. She plans to use the piece for a pillow to decorate her motor home. How pretty is this?
It is easier than ever to find like-minded spirits if you are a quilter. In the not so recent past, finding inspiration for quilting was mostly limited to a few PBS television series, (not to discount those in any way, they were and remain a phenomenal resource) and print material such as magazines and books. Recently I have noticed a rather stale presentation in the quilt magazines. Everything is starting to look the same. Of course, my exception to that generalization is Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine. I readily agree that this is likely my own stagnation speaking here, but I find the blogs to be a great resource for quilting, garment sewing, knitting and crochet. Here are a few more of my favorites.
First off, meet Emma of Sampaguita Quilts This young woman, so talented, juggles home and family and a Quilting style that is sure to make you marvel. As you scan through her blog you will see how talented she really is. And she must be loaded with energy!
Another interesting visit is Quilters Tv. This site currently features 88 videos to view with nationally recognized designers and quilters. It is free. No subscriptions here. Currently, the front video features Elanor Burns and her fall themed quilts.
Have you ever visited QuiltBlocksGalore ? I don't think there has been a quilt block designed that is not documented here. Full color representations will have you busy for hours. Really. Order pizza for dinner, you won't have time to cook!
Elizabeth Barton has a very modern take on the quilting arts. On her blog here she illustrates her process.
Laura Wasilowski is well known in quilting circles. Her blog here is a wealth of information for new and experienced quilters.
Gratuity Moment: rumors of a cool down, believe it when I see it!
