Field Trip-The Quilt Company & A Favorite Notion, The Pinking Blade-Rotary Cutter

A cold and windy, snow flurry day here. A good day for a field trip. Some quilting friends and I headed north, out of the city, to Allison Park, Pa. This is a lovely quilt shop with large and open spaces. The fabrics are bright, colorful and fun. QF (Jen) helped me choose some great new fabrics. I know, I said no more quilt fabrics, but I need more color. I will show you those in the next post. I have been totally re-thinking my crazy quilt project and I will discuss that as well. QF Rose is doing one too, in cottons. Now I am really ambivilent about all the fancy fabrics. I think I will try one in quilting cottons first. Probably with some of the batiks I picked up today. It will be a modern quilt. More on that next time. Anyway, here is a little bio of the shop, and some photo's from their website. They also have an online shop and the owner is a fabulous, nationally recognized designer.

The pinking rotary cutter blade is a favorite. It works well for fabrics that fray, of course, but I like it for cutting white and light colored knits as well. It reduces the shadow of the seam. See above? A nice little wavy line.
Gratuity Moment: a little sunshine on a snowy day and great QF's to share it with.
