I really need to update my pants, jeans, trousers. I am not sure I am in the mood to tackle jeans, but other bottom wear is a distinct possibility. Mostly I need comfortable around the house pants. I also need a few pair for public wear, events. While sorting through my pattern stash, I found a few that have never been cut. Let me show you what I found.
V7179 a Today's Fit by Sandra Betzina, this pant is fitted and tapered with a contour waist. I am not particularly fond of "fitted" pants because I like lots of ease for sitting and movement. Because I am up and down a lot, I am not sure that these would serve for every day wear, but for dressier out of the house wear, they might work.
This pattern was released in 1999.
The big plus here is the fitting opportuniites because of the seaming. I am not sold, but it might still be a possibility, maybe in a stretchy tweedie fabric? That I would need to find.
Another Today's Fit pattern, V7027, is more my style. With a straight leg, the dart or pleat option and an elastic back waist, this is a strong contender. Again, not over-fitted but also not baggy zoot-suit looking trousers.
I can see this in many different fabrics. Classic, tailored, not fussy. Me. Also released in 1999, I think I will do this one first.
In 1986 Stretch and Sew released #744. A very loose fitting elastic waist pant, it is very comfortable. I did make this one and found it to be too big, too much fabric, but a possible make with modifications. Likely, I will need to make a smaller size.
Don't these two ladies look like they are having a wonderful time? Probably because their pants are soooo comfoftable.
I picked up some ponte and can't decide if I will make one of these or do a copy from a RTW pair that I wear constantly. Productivity has been slow so far this week, but there sure is a lot going on in my head!
I pulled out some nice acrylic yarn from stash to make some neck scarves. This is called "Marble Chunky" from James C. Brett, Clyde Street, Bingly in West Yorkshire. I found it in one of my local shops, imported. Simple and quick knits. Maybe a little fringe? I am such a novice knitter, years ago I would whip up sweaters and all kinds of stuff. Now, it is like starting over. Thus this pattern. A garter stitch narrow scarf knit on a circular needle. It is self patterning, nice fall colors. It will match a coat I have.
I will probably crochet a fancy little edge on it. Speaking of crochet, I have a little tool-time post for you soon. Well that's all for now. Bertie is waiting for her measurements and stuffing, the quilt is languishing on the dining room table, way too much to do, not enough time, my usual complaint. Sorry.
Gratuity Moment: reminder tutorial about how to copy RTW---unfortunately I cannot find it now, but this link shows the basics of this method. If i find the original I will post it.
