We have had a lot of rain, some very hot weather, some cool. Whatever the combination we have a bumper crop of green. Each of these raised beds had extra rich sterilized garden soil and mushroom compost worked in at planting time.
First the Herbs:
flat leaf Italian parsley, some of these leaves are the size of a 50 cent piece! |
beautiful leafy dill, wonderful before the stems get woody |
amazing sweet basil |
rosemary is going to need more sun, getting swallowed up by Juliet tomato |
second crop of flat leaf parsley, I use a lot of parsley:) |
growth spurt, more staking is needed and will need to move some herbs to boxes |
another basil in old urn |
I saved this peat pot from another plant, transplanted some of the basil to give as a gift, over night the wild pea fines surrounded it....soon we will be totally over grown. |
Picked the first radishes last night and this morning. The lettuces are doing well. Green tomatoes on the vines, bean stocks are out of control. This little leaf lettuce is from seeds left over from last year. So are the beans, cucumbers, sweet basil, and lettuce.
this is the Juliet tomato, it is a little larger than a grape tomato but smaller than a plum. a very prolific plant, I got bushels from this plant last year. got it at Home Depot garden center.
Gratuity Moment: just having this little plot, close to the kitchen door. Convenient and calming at the same time. | | | | |
