Field trip-Natural Stitches-Pittsburgh, Pa.

Sheep

Good evening woolies. What a great day. A field trip is one of the best ways to clear out the creative cobwebs and get some new perspective. In the Pittsburgh, Pa. area we are fortunate to have a good selection of independent knit and quilt shops. Today was Knit shop day. DDIL  (as of 2016 an ex-dil, now there's a story, twit!) and I visited this shop in the East Side section of Pittsburgh. Currently undergoing major growth, this once fading area is being reborn. Nabisco used to have a large factory here, now Google is moving in. Multiple small retail shops have taken up residence including this charming yarn shop. Easy to find with plenty of free parking, this shop is sure to please.

Are you looking for a gift card?
Just call us at 412-441-4410 and we will be happy to help you.
We are a full service yarn shop featuring a wide array of natural and man made fibers in every color, texture, and price imaginable. (Ok, maybe not EVERY one, but we're trying!) We have some fabulous instructors offering a huge array of classes for every level of expertise, not to mention needles, books, accessories and a taste of spinning and other fiber arts.
Our selection is too big to list here -- see yarn, needles, accessories for details -- but we've just got to brag about some of the goodies you'll find inside. We've got the entire line of Cascade 220 worsted- EVERY color, except the tweeds. We've got luxury fibers from Blue Sky Alpaca, madelinetosh, and Pagewood Farms; along with workhorse yarns such as Brown Sheep, Berroco, Malabrigo, and Cascade(and have we mentioned our Cascade 220 Wall?). We've got needles from all the top companies, including Addi Turbo(Including the regular and lace Clicks!), ChiaoGoo(Bamboo and Stainless Steel and NEW Lace Steel)and Main ShopDenise(in both Blue and Pink); accessories from Nancy's Knit Knacks and Lantern Moon; and a whole lot more. We have everything you could possibly want to feed your fiber fantasies.
We are enormously pleased to be located at The Village of Eastside, in Pittsburgh's East End. This is an up and coming shopping district, featuring Pittsburgh's very first Trader Joe's, a Staples for your office needs, and a Game Stop to occupy your impatient companions. Around one corner is a Whole Foods, and around another corner is Home Depot. In addition, we are convenient to Shadyside Hospital, Bakery Square and Target (now in development).

Wall of color, how to choose?

Dedicated to supporting local, small businesses? Search out such shops in your area. Engage the owners/staff in conversation to learn as much as you can about the shop and their vision for their work. These ladies are knowledgeable and ready to offer guidance and answer questions. Quilters and knitters are warm and engaging people, spend some time and take your own field trip. It is a great way to spend the day.

Gratuity Moment: The best companion to shop crawl with, DDIL.
