Vintage Book-Knit and Crochet

This is one of my favorite vintage knit and crochet books. It is like a little snapshot of life circa 1942. The binding is dry and makes crackling sounds when opened. The pages are yellowed and fragile but the information is timeless. This little gem came to me from my MIL. She always wanted to learn knit and/or crochet, but being left hand dominant, this book did not address her learning needs.

a swim dress for a pouty little girl

a divine baby bunting

a stylish pull-over sweater for mylady

an peculiar cap and vest for Mr.

The beginning chapters feature how-to's for the beginner and review for the more advanced needle worker. All in all a nice little trip back in time, before the war, before Mothers, Wives and Girlfriends started knitting multiple pairs of socks to warm the feet of their men at war. An innocence that translated into handcrafts for "Modern" knitter.
