I may have mentioned I am not a photographer, but knowing that the moon was so close last night, we gave it a shot. This blurry rendition is a view of the moon rising facing east in my side yard. It was much nicer in person, really!

That said, I mentioned in a prior post that I would explain my theory of preparing a "muslin" for a new pattern and PJ's. So, here is my reasoning. If I am testing a new pattern, using a knit or woven fabric for the final piece, I test in a like fabric. That test can always be fashioned/refashioned into pajamas. For example the Connie Crawford T shirt pattern has had two tests. Particularly I was developing the forward shoulder adjustment already included in the pattern. It works well, fits well. I have made additional adjustments. The view A needed a bit more wearing ease in the bust, the view C was too big through the hips and in the end I did not like the length. Fast forward, I gifted the A view to someone less endowed and view C is now a PJ top. I opened the sleeve seam, ran some silk ribbon through some beading left over from a Martha Pullen class, stitched it down. So now what about bottoms....enter S7229, the yoke waist pants/skirt. I had a lightweight lavender jersey that looks dreadful near my face, (reminiscent of liver failure) so I never used it for a shirt. So even though it is not bottom weight appropriate, I gave it a try. This is where the sub-titles: Running with Scissors & Don't Sew While Asleep need to be added! I measured the crotch length in the large size and it was a go. Cut out, marked, to the machine we go. I was very tired and should have just packed it in for the day, but....I noticed that one piece of the pants was about 2 inches longer than it should be. So I ran, got the scissors and lopped it off. Then in a spirit of "I will finish this today, it is supposed to be a 1 hour pattern." Well, listen to me, joining the back piece and the front piece trying to make a front piece doesn't work, even if you cut off 2 inches!
So, in conclusion, this weeks project resulted in a gift and a pair of PJ's.
As for week of 3-20-11, Still on the quest for the perfect T shirt. I found a lovely double knit cotton/poly in the stash for the next one. That will be V 8536. It will be a V neck with short sleeves. Hopefully, do more cutting out for other new patterns. I also found a lovely cotton/poly lightweight piece of fabric that I made a skirt from several years ago. It is a lovely pale coral color with little white flowers. That will be something! Only a little of a yard left so I may need to get creative.
