Rag Quilt-flannel

Meet one of the easiest quilts to make ever! These gained popularity a couple years ago. I purchased the fabric as a pre-cut kit at a quilt show. The vendor used a die-cutting machine to mass cut the fabrics. Now, agreed, that made it easy for me to just sew up, but anyone can cut the fabrics with a rotary cutter. Since there is no matching or fussing with the pieces, this can be done in an afternoon. This one is also made of flannel, not pre-washed. Each rectangle measured about 3 inches by 7 inches. The finished size, after washing is 37 x 39. Each block is two layers of flannel, no batting. Sew the blocks wrong side together, leaving a raw edge seam on the right side. Then join them short-end to short-end in rows. Then one cuts the end of every other strip, attaches the cut piece to the opposite end before joining the rows. Now the real work begins, I actually ruined a pair of scissors in the process. All those raw edges around each block and the edge get snipped to the stitching line. The snips are about 1/4 inch apart. Then wash it and dry it. All those little snips will "bloom" and create a fringe. Done.
