Three Inspiring Garment Sewists, Inspiration Ideas

My Studio, messy but it is mine. I have spent too little time there recently with the darn leg pain, I keep trying the knee control, I think I am doing better. I am always looking for inspiration. I want to do more basic garment sewing, I need to work on winter weight pajamas and some long sleeve tops. I have lots of patterns, I have lots of fabric, but I need inspiration. Enter some of my favorite sewing ladies.

This is Jayne, love her accent.

I found Jayne several years ago. She and her husband has just settled into a one floor bungalow to accommodate his increasing mobility issues. He was older and she spent much time caring for him. Then she would sew. Sewing is therapy for many of us, and she is no exception. That said, The Dressmakers Closet is a unique blog for me because it is based in the UK, her style is rather Vintage, but her sewing tips are very nice. The videos are interesting, informative, and inspiring. I can't tell you how many times I have rearranged my sewing space after watching one of her video's. If you would like to take a peek, just follow the link HERE. There are also crochet designs on her site.

Another inspiration in the sewing world comes from Austrailia. Evelyn Wood is a dynamo for classic style, refashioning garments, and teaching sewing for beginner to advanced. Her side venue is just that, a Vintage Sewing School. Over the last year and a half she has battled a very aggressive breast cancer. Her website and video's are still up and pertinent. She is just now back to work, catching up so to speak.  This link will take you there, HERE, meet Evelyn Wood.

And finally, meet Whitney of TomKat Stitchery. A former bridal shop alteration specialist, she moved on and started this website that covers everything from pattern tester, sewing machine sponsor, fabric evaluator, and more. A true inspiration, HERE.  While her style is a bit young for me, but her productivity is amazing. Of course, this is her business, but still, I am amazed. She uploads two video's per week, does tutorials, and has some online sewing courses.
