The Tuesday Tea, Christmas Dishes

As I clean the china closet and start the mammoth job of putting away the Christmas dinner ware, I realized that I did not share them with you.  I like to use my Christmas theme dishes from the week-end after Thanksgiving until the end of January, or earlier if I get to Packing it away. My passion for Lenox fine chine is well known. Dishes are pieces of art to me and this collection is just that. This pattern is Holiday Tartan from the Dimension Collection. Any dishware with fruit catches my eye, but add some Tartan and I am hooked. Each dish in this collection is beautifully translucent and each element perfectly articulated. The food actually tastes better on these dishes, or so I am told:)

Here are two of the cups on a silver tray. The tray is small. But just right for two cups. During the holidays I used a much larger tray, to hold more cups and other tea accoutrement.

This charming sugar bowl and creamer are also Lenox in a complimentary pattern. It is from the American Home Collection called Winter Greeting. The pattern is sweet little birds, beautifully painted on Christmas greenery. Each piece has a different bird and background.  I have these, some small bowls and several serving pieces in this pattern. They get along well with the Tartans. The gold trim on this collection is a thin painted line, on the Tartans it is much wider.

I wanted some mugs for coffee and cocoa. I found these sculptural pieces with the holly leaves and little Tartan bows that match the dinnerware. Also from the Home Collection, named Nouveau Ribbon.
I can mix and match all these pieces because the themes are similar and the background color of the china is the same in all three patterns. There are some large platters that coordinate with all of these using beautiful Cardinals as the signature bird.

Still fighting the aftereffects of the flu here and tire very easily. I have had enough of this. I can just imagine how sick I would be if I had not take a flu shot. Sooooo, I am going to make a cup of tea and sit down with one of these cups for a while, maybe the rest of the work will magically do itself, yes?

Have a lovely day, stay warm. Up here in the Northeast we are freezing!
*while I receive no compensation from Lenox, I wouldn't scoff at an offer, just saying.
