Boys Best Friend

Fall is in the air here. The garden undergrowth is withering, the air is chilled, spider webs are everywhere. As seasons change, so does life.

When I saw this photo of boy and his dog, I knew I had to share. Some years ago, my In-Laws had the most wonderful dog, his name was Duke. A German Shepherd/Newfoundland mix, he was an amazing animal. This photo reminds me of one taken with my Dear Son and Duke. (I will search for a photo to digitize one of these days.) They doted on this dog, he was very intelligent, protective and loving. He comes up in conversation regularly, he was loved. Now, unfortunately, my FIL is extremely ill and hospitalized, again. After leaving the hospital last night, Husband returned with MIL for dinner. We talked about him, Duke, and how much my FIL respected that dog. We have difficult days ahead and to recall the good times seems to help MIL adjust to what will be Her new reality. Life is a constant adjustment, of course, but our pets ease that transition.   As our life seasons emerge, our needle crafts ease the transition. Today, I will knit while the vigil continues, hoping against hope that modern medicine will provide respite.   Hope You have a lovely Sunday with friends and family.
