Spring brings me to the special task of transplanting houseplants. I try to do this before it is time to set them outside on their respective porches. My front porch gets nice diffuse Northern morning sun, until about noon, then is entirely in the shade. My violets love it. They absolutely thrive there on a white wrought-iron reproduction Victorian table. When Spring comes back I will take their picture. In the meantime, while transplanting, I have a few broken leaves. I put them in little bits of water (in recycled jars) to root. Nothing fancy. Just change the water every day or so and keep them in the sun to avoid stagnation. Here they are on the kitchen window sill. In a few weeks they will have fuzzy little roots and find new homes in pretty little pots.
This rather tangled looking jumble is actually 4 sad mother plants. Over the winter they were sort of neglected and started growing all willy-nilly. So I popped them all together and we will see what happens. The two in the middle have white flowers, when they bloom. The scrawny ones on each end have purple flowers.
I found this charming planter at Home Depot last week. It is terracota with a wide glazed band all around. Very cheery. I had a bunch of similar planters of all shapes and sizes from Mexico until last year. I had cleaned them for the season and set them in the sun to dry. Someone had the idea that I didn't want them anymore and promised them to a friend. Friend was beyond excited. What could I do? I visit them.
Gratuity Moment: good dirt, like good food, nourishes the plant....I hope:)
Hopefully, we'll get to some sewing talk next week. I have a field trip booked and great plans. Have a lovely week-end everyone. By the way I did NOT win the lottery, so.....carry on.
