Then and Now, A Blouse

 The blogs are busy with Vintage fashion right now. Two era's are jumping to the forefront for sewists and collectors alike, The Edwardian era styles 1910 to 1920 honor the Titanic sensibilities and the 1950-1960's conjure up the Mad Men season. In the Betty Draper segment she remarked about how one particular blue blouse reminded her of the current "Sencha" by Colette Patterns.       http://www.colettepatterns.com/

While sorting through my Vintage patterns, most of which I gifted to others, I remembered I held on to this one. Here is the post from several months ago after I had received my Sencha.

Pattern Comparison:

Note how the blouse on the top right, the yellow one, looks like a Sencha.  Never cut, still in factory folds this pattern is a jewel.   I think what most appeals to me are the details.  Notice the collar treatments. Interestingly, the new Colette on the left has a very similar shape. I have had the Colette Sencha for a long time but haven't made it yet.  A very talented designer, Sarai incorporates vintage style with modern fit.

I really get excited when I discover something like this! I know, sewing nerdism all the way. What can I say? Please remember that I started sewing in the 1950's, on a Treadle sewing machine barely able to reach the pump pedal, using white bed sheets stolen from the clothes line!
