It was Do-Dad Day for the Sew and Sews

The wind up to the TRQ Quilt Show is exciting. I can't wait to see this years entries, visit the vendors and absorb all the creative energy. One of the biggest events of the show is the flea market. We call it Granny's Attic.  Quilters donate everything from books to bobbins, fabric to fancy trims. This year we gave our Tuesday Quilt group the opportunity to bring their donations to the group for examination and exchange, everything left goes to the show. We had a lot of stuff. Good stuff. A quilters dilemma, what to give, what to keep.

This is the greatest way to recycle and reuse. I came home with a couple pieces of great fabrics and some lining fabrics. Also some super zippers.

And Now This Week's Eye Candy:

This is Kay's Friendship Quilt. Her piecing is meticulous. Such great color.
This is Linda Sue's quilt. I have shown this before, it is being hand quilted. Just love the precise piecing and the balance of the geometric shapes.
Betty Jane has been busy. These little folded flowers enhance and embellish the amazing little panel quilt below.
These are lovely stylized birds. They are printed panels that were framed and assembled into this 9 block quilt. The squares you see in the corners are the "blooming flowers" before they have been opened.
A close up of one of the birds.

And guess what? There were 6 of these little birds left over from her panel....they came home with me.
Joan's lucky friend will be getting this one as a gift. Since she has been a life-long friend, I am sure she will be thrilled. Each panel is a different flower. It is being hand quilted and it is beautiful.
A little detail. These two quilts illustrate just how clever one can be with these stunning panels. They are bordered and sashed. Joan is going to outline quilt each flower. Hopefully, I will be able to show you that soon. Beautiful.
Pat has been busy too. This little quilt is a wedding gift. The center block has the vital information and it is framed by the nine patch blocks with borders and cornerstones. She made a pieced border that combines all the fabrics but it has not been turned yet.

A close up of the batiks used for this piece. Cookies, crudites, and cupcakes were supplied by Marion and others, I think. We were so busy looking and talking, I forgot to ask!

All in all, a great event for the March project.  To keep quilting alive we must all make an effort in our groups, in our community, in our churches and schools to provide that stimulus.

In this group there are so many talented and productive people. Some of the group have been absent for a while so we have a new event for April. We are going to have a tea party. We will touch base with older members and invite new ones. One of the features for this little event will be a pin cushion display. Since we all make and collect them, it should be fun.

Gratuity Moment: This first day of Spring brings beautiful flowers here, already in bloom. We also have beautiful flowers blooming on new quilts. How good can that be?
