Rescue and reuse, sewing notions

Our Tuesday quilt group has been gifted some great sewing supplies from a former member. I hear she was a lovely person, well liked and respected by the group. Prior to her passing, she purchased some Halloween/Fall fabrics probably for a specific project but we have no idea what that was. So as a group we are going to make a quilt to show at a local art venue. I didn't know her.  Many ladies who sew pass their sewing collections to this church to be redistributed and we all share. Much is current, much is vintage. All of these collections tell a story. So here is a few chapters in this sewers story.

The Fall/Halloween fabrics. Some are from a Thimbelberries collection, others from Moda, different designers. The selvage is printed 2006 on some of them.

Additional fabrics from group members, we like to use up our stash.
Lots of stash here. This will be a very scrappy quilt. We have not finalized the design yet, there are 3 or 4 strong contenders. But as emphasized by one member (who does the MOST precise stitching I have ever seen on the smallest quilts) with more than one sewer, we need to keep this simple. It will be a group cut and sew piece, probably in 2 weeks. We plan to spend the day. Should be great fun, this is a great group of ladies with major talent.

Boo!

In addition to the fabrics little boxes of notions and needles were passed around to be shared. I am not sure where all this stuff came from, but I will never need to purchase another needle for hand sewing for the rest of my life! Some of the needle/needlecases are quite old. The paper has yellowed, some of the needles are rusted as well. The tape measures are two old little spring-wind reels, I can always use seam guides and a nice thimble.
