This calm scene is far from what we know these days. Years ago, my MIL saw a picture of a farm scene that she would stare at, for long periods of time, to calm herself. This was early on in her dementia journey, it was when she actually realized it was happening. Taking a queue from her habit, I seek photos like this for the same reason. I cannot get the pictures of suffering from mind. Today, I heard from a stitching friend in a suburb of Kyiv. She has decided to remain in place because her grandmother, 83 years young, cannot travel. She cannot leave her. She stood in a queue for food 8 hours yesterday, 13 hours today. In addition she is searching for medications for her grandmother. It was freezing, snowing, exhausting. My heart breaks for her and all those in this horrid situation. I choose not to delve into the political issues here but the humanitarian condition is becoming progressively more tenuous. My friend asks for your prayers. My friend asks that we remember they are still there, many of them. Unable to travel to a safe haven, many are living a nightmare. Something we cannot even understand. God Bless my friend.
