Tea Time February, 2022

A glimpse of the Polish Pottery collection, this is a few pitchers and a coffee grinder made by my father-in-law from pieces of barn wood retrieved from son's barn, about 150 years old.

It is cold here, I mean really cold. A nice hot cup of tea is so welcome. I use an electric tea kettle to heat my water. It brews a nice cuppa. At this time of year a tea cozy is essential to keep that tea hot. Well, warm anyway. Most often, tea time for me and sometimes husband, is a simple affair. If I have some egg or chicken salad made, a little half or triangle sandwich goes well and holds our growling tummies in check until dinner time. A couple water table crackers, (I like Carr's) will substitute at times. Husband must have a cheese spread with his! This mid-afternoon respite has become firmly set for me because that is the time I need to get up from the machine or the desk, take a walk around and clear my head.

The Emma Bridgewater Shop in  Stoke-on-Trent. North Staffordshire. It's a darn good thing there is an ocean between me and that shop, you all know how I melt in the presence of china, stoneware, and tea accoutrements !😊

*these photo's were part of a post by Mrs. Darling of the Darling Academy. She is a charming young woman raising her family and maintaining a traditional household being a stay-at-home mom and housewife in the UK. The link to this post, HERE. Shown here is the Christmas themed collection. Interestingly, I have seen similar style designs in Walmart, Kohls, and other US based retailers. Mmmm, who  mimics who?

Anyway, my plan this week is to attempt to make Mrs. Darling's Cheese Scones. Sadly, I am not so good with the scones! Hockey pucks are more tender I hear! The nerve of these people, right? So, wish me luck. If they are good, or even tolerable, I'll let you know!

Now, off to boil the water. Have a beautiful day! Savor the little things in life, like sunshine, sparkling snow in moonlight, (I'm stretching here, bear with me!) and the sight of pretty little tea towels, stacked, pressed, and ready for service!
