The May 2017 Needle Project-In-Progress: the Crochet Basket Weave Blanket

I have to do something if I am parked in front of Le Boob Tube
I didn't have a plan or a purpose when I bought this yarn, but when I saw the display in one of my favorite knit shops I suddenly developed a purple passion.

I wound the balls, put them in a cute basket and pondered the project.
I remembered a baby blanket in a basket weave pattern made and gifted several years ago. I unearthed the pattern and started the process.

I have changed the pattern up a bit, of course, but the colors are the stars here. It is still a basket weave but random sizes of blocks, colors running into each other, a modern twist on a traditional pattern. This will take a while since I work on it while watching television with husband. It will also travel with me this Summer, hopefully it will be done for next Fall's by the fire cuddle!

Slow but sure, well, at least slow!
My favorite hook style. Arthritic hands fare better with a larger grip. This one from Joann's with a 50% off coupon, I have been building a collection of these. That little oval shape in the front, down near the metal hook is a little piece of silicone or some other rubber-like material that provides a grip for the thumb. Me likey!

I learned some time ago that if I had an idea, a plan or a thought I needed to jot it down somewhere. If you have read this blog for any length of time (yeesh it has been 10 years since the original blog, how did that happen?) you know that I am a list maker. At times I misplace the lists and have found that keeping my notes in notebooks is the way to go, at least for me. I use unadorned composition books as workbooks but I like a cutey for a "Dream Book." I have ideas, plans, lists and dreams of projects in here. Even if they never come to fruition, they are in the book.
