The Amber Glass, Two More

from the L.E. Smith site

What a beautiful Fall season we are having in Western Pennsylvania. Around every turn and across every field stunning fall colors greet us.

I have a couple more pieces of Amber Glass, from L. E. Smith Glassworks (here)  to share with you. Fall just seems the perfect time to bring them out of their cabinets and let them show off a bit.  I occasionally think that I need to start thinning out the collections. Then I recall the memories attached with each piece. Such is this collection, it is very special to me. With Halloween just around the corner I am reminded of how quickly time passes. This is the time for the Amber Glass.

This mini-cake stand is only 6 inches in diameter and 6 inches high. It is the hob-nail pattern and I use it for serving small wrapped candies or one little pumpkin as a center piece. There was a time when I used it for the evening meal desert stand. Yes, I made little Petite-fours  and tiny little cookies and cupcakes. I may return to the dinner rituals in the future. It was such a nice and relaxing time when we could enjoy the meal instead of rushing and moving on to the next project. I have been mulling all this for a while. Unless I set the stage for returning to civility, there will be no going back. Forcing us to take our time, turn off the Blackberry (s) and the other various devices, light the candles, and dine.

This little basket measures 5 inches across, it is about 4 inches deep. The little ruffle on the edge makes it rather feminine. Great for entertaining, I use it to contain mints or nonpareils on the serving table.

Tomorrow is the first Fall Tea Party for the Sew and Sews. We are all looking forward to a lovely afternoon. See you then.
