Housekeeping: Ahhh, the Week-end!

The glamour of my week-ends are legendary. Best laid plans and all that.....So, today will be devoted to special laundry. You know, the linens that need to be washed and packed away for next Christmas.

Some time ago I read in a magazine that one should not store starched linens. The starch attracts insects. I hear that loud and clear. I store the linens clean and folded long term. I like to put little sachets of bay leaves in the linen closet. I am not sure if that works but I read that somewhere or someone told me a long time ago, and I have done it ever since. I've not had bug so I assume it does work!   If the linens are to be used in a short period of time I do press and starch and cover with a muslin cover on a hanger with a large roller cross-bar.  Martha Stewart rolls them here. I have also found some vintage rayon that I will wash up to be used for future projects.

Oh by the way, save your money on this one! The Lint Lizard, did not live up to its hype. Unless the lint access on your dryer is large and straight, and you don't mind  wrestling with the very stiff plastic hose-thing, your current method is probably better. My (dream) laundry room. This is from an episode of Sara's House 2, the back-split. I love, love, love that house and essentially everything in it except the dining room table and the too tween room. that would be a sewing studio.  I think every laundry room should have a Cararra marble floor, don't you? The perfect shade of yellow on the walls is not well captured here, but trust me it is perfect!

I have to agree, that dining room table is just too small. Where are we supposed to cut our fabrics?
