Downton Abbey, Season 3 Ep. 2

OK, can you tell me what is wrong with the picture? Lady Edith is happy, smiling, self-content. She should have read the next page in the script! We all knew it was too good to be true, that sure didn't work out, did it? Poor Lady Edith, if there is a bird flying over head in a crowd of people, you and I both know who is going to get the gift!

So here we are all dressed up, had someplace to go, got there and left during the intermission, so to speak. Now what? I am sure we all suspect where this is going but I will let the story unfold in its own time.

The frolic with the farmer phase, Edith with Mr. Drake, now that had disaster written all over it!

On another level, Laura Carmichael, is a modern and lovely young woman as  well as an outstanding actress.   As seen here, well, not much frump going on.

Apparently the day they filmed the wedding scene the weather was rather brisk and the characters were freezing. see the Daily Mail photo's and back story here.  I love the lovely 1920's dresses being hidden by puffy coats! Ah, the rigors of the film worker. There are currently a few Pinterest boards dedicated to Downton fashions, this one is very nice.
Maybe we should all start Dressing for Dinner

I was devastated last week when poor Edith was left at the altar. How humiliating. She will be better off without him, of course, because he is such a cad. Humm-I've known guys like that. Glad I didn't marry one of them!

Can someone tell me why Edith's dress was prettier than Mary's?

Because hers was made by the local dress maker, not enough time to pop over to Paris. Granny was going to spring for the fancy duds but they did not want to offend their regular lady. Ahhh, some recognition for the hard working sewist!
