We've talked about Nesting Season in the past. A time of year that requires mostly indoor pursuits for me. After the day's work, I like nothing more than to cuddle up by the fire with a knitting project and a cup of tea. Unfortunately, today it also includes some germ warfare. I swear, if there is a germ out there, anywhere this winter, it has latched on to me! That said, I am keeping to myself for a few days so as not to share it with friend or foe. This leads me back to tea.
Since this series has been on hold for a while I thought it was time to take another look. Well, this is not a vintage piece, an exquisite example or a particularly well decorated one. This little sweetheart is my new daily fav!
I am going to call her Granny Smith. In real life she is more green than yellow. What is so special? Well, she is an infusion pot. Self-contained infusion basket, sturdy porcelain, nice little stainless flip-lid, what is not to love? I have so many infusion teas and this is high hot tea season for me. Lets take a tour of my current tea tray.
It looks like a flea market display, doesn't it? Not one thing matches nor are the elements congruent. On the left you see the electric kettle. I could not live without it. Really. There is a little reproduction Hog Scraper lamp, a crock with a collection of antique Sterling forks and spoons, Granny Smith and two cups, ready to go. The can on the right is one I picked up in London a few years ago.
Jacksons's of Picadilly. I called it "Tourist Tea." I would have bought it just for the tin:) The tea was good, a well balanced English Breakfast Style tea. Now it is holding a fabulous spice blend from a local purveyor, Nicholas Coffee Company. They also do internet sales if you are interested. (no affiliation, just satisfied customer)
Anyway, back to the pot. I was shopping with MIL, returning some Christmas gifts. I thought, well, I'll go upstairs to see what kind of kitchen widget I might need that I don't know about. (Macy's) Right there, waiting for me, was a display of these little pots. Several colors. How to decide? Since the Christmas sale prices were still in effect, I picked up a second one, a gift for another tea lover.
Just look at that little infuser basket hanging out on the rim of the pot. How cute is that?
Got a little steamy on the close-up, that's a new one for this amateurish photographer. Cup number one has been around for a while. The red is pretty accurate.
This one is so sweet, little flowers everywhere, quite the contrast. I started this whole thing because dishes are art to me. If I could, I would have complete service for twelve in each pattern. I had to settle on a teacup or two.
Well, thats it for now. By next week I'll set a prettier try, wish you could join me. I might even make some cookies!
