Good Morning to all those nasty little Arachnids who are making every effort to move into my house. I don't hate spiders. When they are outside, spinning their intricate little webs that remind me of beautiful crocheted doilies, but in my house, scooting around corners, not so much.
I am sure that my location probably is a haven for the spiders as well as the turkeys flying overhead, like dive-bombers preparing for their fall roost. It is like wild kingdom here!
Today is what I call a fractured day, errands that need to be done, hair that has long past its OK to be seen in public date, lunch with an old friend, tomatoes to pick and vines to pull. Then pressing the fabrics for the Fall quilt. Some adjustments for the Jalie pattern, etc, etc. Lets be realistic, it will be friend, hair, maybe press and tomatoes :)))
I collect pottery. So these fabrics echo that.
This is the same fabric in two colorways, called "Zanzibar."
Pottery, another favorite collectible. This may end up being kitchen curtains, placemats, table runners, something like that.
Never met a dot I didn't like.
A lovely floral. I have trouble finding fabrics that I like with black backgrounds even though I have no idea what I will do with this. I commandeered 3 yards of it, so I will have enough down the road, when I finally get to it. I hate it when I run out.
A piece of off-white geometric print is below the black floral. I always need these.
| gotta love it, yes? |
This is a panel reminiscent of a vintage table cloth. It is an Eleanor Burns fabric for Bernartex. I will likely hem this and use if for a table covering. I will likely use a backing fabric and maybe a very thin layer of batting and perhaps some free motion quilting. Not sure yet. Originally I had planned to just hem the edges. Hmmm, see how this happens?
That's all for now. I hope you are able to support your local independent quilt shops and perhaps travel to some others. These hard working shop owners provide us with much enjoyment, they work hard to bring many beautiful fabrics, books and notions to make our hobby easier. They present classes and samples to inspire us. It is good to help them as well.
